Summer Roadtrip and Story Sales

How does a teacher spend their summer? Well, if they write speculative fiction, they go to Tombstone, Roswell, and take many goofy pictures. And on the way, they stop at every strange, creepy, odd spot they can find.

Drove 2,000 miles through the southwest, stopping at anything that looked interesting. We saw four gunfights (reenactments) one hanging, one dome-shaped dream house, several bizarre churches, one girant taco, three real 1880's saloons, one giant Desert Bot, several Autobots, one Decepticon (Megatron), Multiple alien enchounters, (no abductions), herds of Dinosaurs, Teepees (so many teepees), one giant arrow, several Bigfoots (or is it Bigfeet), one mummified 10 foot female giant, one neanderthal, one giant pistachio, one old west graveyard, one Val Kilmer memorial, half-dozen museums, one THING (what is it!), one Wyatt Earp statue that looked a lot like Kurt Russell, one giant Jack Skellington, one Jackalope, the entire cast of the movie Cars, one spaceship-shaped McDonalds, one Gort, one UFO Research Library, one Sleestak, one Reptilian, one alien autopsy prop from the movie Roswell with Martin Sheen, one Mugato, one Captain's chair, one transporter, one giant road runner sculpture made of recycled materials, one alien riding a roadrunner, two giant cowboy sculptures in the middle of nowhere, dozens of truck stops (including Clines Corners), one continental divide, lots of petrified wood/trees, more teepees, one spooky mannequin, tons of native american art, one giant rabbit with saddle, one giant guitar, one Glenn Frey statue, one corner in Winslow Arizona to stand on, and one musical road. If you are bored in America, then hit the road and look for the weird. It's out there. We have the pictures to prove. (More pics on Facebook and Instagram

WRITING NEWS!

Story sales - I sold several short stories to anthologies coming out this year. My science fiction short story, Old Abe, was picked up by Inkd Publishing for inclusion in their August release, Beyond 2026. My short story Monsters, Psycobabble, and a Katana will be another August release in the anthology Witches Save the World: Hags, Harridans, and Hexes Gone Right. Anderson's drabble, The Deep End, will appear in the anthology Drabble the Dark from WATG Press at the end of the year.

The BIOME Speculative Fiction Podcast will be producing an audio version of my story, Third Shift. It's a story that has been produced a few times (The Drabblecast and The Horror Hill Podcast), but this is a slightly updated version, and I am looking forward to hearing what they do with it. Should be available in their Season Two episodes, coming out later this year.
