I got a really constructive rejection from Pseudopod on Friday. Two paragraphs of suggestions and some very encouraging words from the assistant editor, Shawn Garrett. Made my day.
On Sunday I had an (Op-Ed) editorial published in the Inland Empire's main newspaper, The Press Enterprise. I originally called the piece Low Impact Parenting, but they changed it to Put Down the Phone and Be a Parent. A little wordy, but probably works better. You can read or listen to it online at: Put Down the Phone an Be a Parent.

I liked your article; I wonder if you felt frustrated at all by having to write it, given that what you say OUGHT to be common sense.
I hope to have several more years of being a young adult before becoming a parent, but one of the things I look forward to about being a parent is getting to enjoy the kinds of activities I know have in my life but that I loved as a kid.
Finally, if you and your family have not seen CORALINE yet, you must. Besides simply being amazing, it touches on this subject.
Common sense seems to be in short supply these days. Here in California we actually had to make a law that makes it illegal to text and drive. Actually had to make a law.
Coraline - read the book and liked it. I'll probably have to wait for the DVD on that one, as the only movies this dad goes to are G. I wish it was G for gory, but its not.
Sorry to hear about the rejections, man. I'm glad that a couple of them were personal and constructive. Sometimes that makes it a bit easier.
Also, didn't know PP had a new assistant editor. Interesting.
He may just be a slush pile reader, but I thought assistant editor, sounded nicer.
